Just found Putter, one of Russians dead. He was fine yesterday when I took him out and walked around the yard. When I found him today in his tortoise table he had weird white pastey stuff coming out of his rectum. Any idea what that was??

Oh no!! That's awful! I'm so sorry! How long was he outside? Is it hot out?

Sorry to hear this. Necropsy will be your best bet to finding out.

:( how is your other tort acting? Is it possible he may have gotten into something? The white stuff can be anything...

The other tort is being himself. His habits habits haven't changed at all. I'm hoping it wasn't something on the grass outside.

If it truly was 10 minutes. Then it had to be something relatively toxic if it was in the grass. Was he in direct sunlight with no way to shelter himself perhaps?

The white stuff could be some postmortem fluid and may not be indicative of what killed him. Does your other tort live in the same enclosure and eat the same grass as the one that died?
