Hi people,

I'm new to this forum guys.

Now the real issue is that my small cousin was gifted a turtle/tortoise a few months bak who had landed upwith me because he doesn't want the poor guy anymore .

Now here's Wer I'm stuck, I don't know anything abt reptiles never had em before and hav no clue..

On top of it the turtle/tortoise has not been opening his eyes and stopped eating from last few days.

Does not sound really promising. First can you send us a picture of this animal, so we can give you some serious help. How warm are you keeping him? Can you while waiting for us to see what he looks like, start by giving him a warm water soak. Water that is just warm to your touch, not hot. Have it up to where his two shells meet, but not any higher in case this is a tortoise. Do you happen to have any baby food around?

Hello and Welcome:) sorry it had to be in an emergency situation. Like Jacqui said, we really can't help much without knowing exactly what you have.

Okay. You have a turtle not a tortoise. They can only eat when in water. What temp is the water and what lights do you have?

adam would like his water deeper, and you can feed him worms, fish, trout chow, lettuce, or thin sliced zucchini. Do you have a spot in the sun you could put him in for a bit every day? Also if you could put him in a separate container everyday and put carrot baby food in the water. Add some worms or whatever you're going to feed him that way his main tank will stay cleaner and he will get the benefit of the baby food. But IMO it's important to soak him in the strained carrots as I'm betting he has a Vitamin A deficiency...he
he'd eat snails too...

Is his water kept clean? Does he get any sun? Is he reasonably warm? Can you get him some live worms? Or live fish? Guppies or maybe gold fish, but they're kinda fatty.

Get him outside in the sun! Get you a plastic tub and make him a pond in the shade .

Guppies have less mercury and fat than goldfish, is my understanding. I'd put the turtle in some warm water and offer him 5 or 6 guppies. Can you put him in a plastic tort outside or on a balcony so he can get some sun on himself? Then later soak him in baby food carrots....

Hi Abhi:

I mean no disrespect, but just because your weather is in the 30'sC doesn't mean your turtle is living in that temperature. Have you ever noticed when you go by a river or pond and see turtles sitting on a log or a rock? They come out of the water and sit in the sun to warm up. So, yes, the temperature showing on your thermometer on the side of the house is 32C, but the turtle needs to sit in the sun or under a light to get WARMER THAN THAT.

A turtle can't digest his food unless he can warm up his inner core temp. to about 38C. So he needs a light to be able to warm up.
