Is the attached picture of your tortoise? The beak looks like it could use a trim!
I don't know much about hibernation, so I will let someone else help you out. I do know that your tortoise should be in good health before being hibernated, or he may not survive.

Hi...I read your other thread...I would not plan to brumate this tort this year...I gather you may not have had him that long? I would wait until you have had him for at least a year in your care and that his health is sound before planning to set up winter brumation....

Also, I would work on getting that beak trimmed down, either by a REALLY REALLY experienced tort vet or my providing smooth low rocks or flat pieces of slat for him to work on that beak himself....it can break off an crack into the soft of his beak/face if left unattended...

The diet really needs to be changed, the items you are feeding him can cause him harm....yes, they do not like change...so you will want to provide better foods for him served up with a little tough love ;)

Beautiful tort by the way :D

Thank you for the help..

It's an old picture since then I have had it done at the vets :)

I will keep him out this year and change his food now and then put him into hibernation next year...

Will it be bad for him if he's not in hibernation this year?

He seems happy enough & loves his baths :)

Your tortoise never NEEDS to be hibernated. You can let him enjoy his food and soaks year round!!!
