My husband and son are driving to Park City Utah in July (for baseball). If any one could get these torts there and meet him he could bring them to California to be re-homed or drop them off in Las Vegas as he will probably spend the night there at his Mom's house on the way home.

That's so sweet of you Angi, but I'm near Cincinnati..that's quite a ways to Utah :(

Please feel free to post here though if anyone is closer to me that wants to form a train to Utah. I have to be at a conference in Georgetown on Thursday. My husband is tortoise-sitting while I'm gone! hahaha!

for soaking.. not hot,, but warm to the touch. Have you done this yet?
They may not drink what they really need with just offering a dish..
Due to how the were kept.. is why Im concerend abot getting them a good soak.
after a few days of that.. they mght drink when they need.. but maybe not..

Didn't figure it would take long for you to be hooked! If space is the main issue, keep one and rehome the others. Just an idea. Good luck!

I soaked them yesterday and Tuesday. I will soak everyday from now on. I wasn't clear on if I should do it everyday. They do seem to enjoy it and if I can get them to poop while soaking I would prefer that to pooping in their cage. I don't like poop where they are walking.

It's breakfast time for them right now and they are CHOWING MAJOR!! I'll post some pics!!

Can I give them a little bit of watermelon just as a treat? I won't overdo it I promise :)

Oh also..I've been giving them room temperature bottled water in their water dish. Is this ok? I don't drink tap water so I don't want to give them anything I wouldn't drink but I'm not a tortoise....let me know what suggestions are for water in their dish.

Is it just me or they look surprisingly good?
They would have to have taken care of to some extent, especially earlier in their lives. The shells look pretty well smooth for the most part.
Ive seen far worse on way better care.

I'm biased, but yep, they look good! I've only had them a week so what I've done with them so far can't have helped that much. They didn't have any sort of light source, they were allowed to roam the house and they were fed iceberg lettuce and dried worms. They are so active now!! When I first got them they just sat there. Now they are all over the place!!

My tub just got here from the warehouse. I need to get the bag of cypress mulch out of my trunk and go grab some plant pots for hideys, terra cotta saucer and a piece of terra cotta tile to put under my basking lamp. They look to me like they are trying to bury themselves, they take one paw and throw the Aspen backwards? Kind of like what a bull does before he charges with the dirt?

Oh, the middle one's shell is just about as perfect as you can get. The tiny one and the larger one do have some pyramiding going on.
