Help!

I keep finding my tort on his back, he doesn't seem harmed in any way but I heard they can die from this :/ Is there any way of preventing it?

Also...

One of his claws is growing kind-of backwards and sometimes gets stuck in his shell, is this a problem? Is there anything I can do?

Where is the tortoise enclosed? Is it a table or a tank? How high are the walls?

He is kept in a vivarium, the sides are quite high.

My adorable, clueless Russian does this too, all the time. Just make sure that, in your vivarium, you have lots of little objects i.e cuttlefish bones, wood hamster chews, food bowls etc.. This means that that when on his back, he can grab onto things and haul himself up quickly, so his organs are not affected. Going on their backs is an unavoidable thing for active tortoises!
