I just bought my first tortoise ever 2 days ago its a male greek I'm not sure how old he is but im guessing hes around two or three and looks to be healthy but i dont know much about tortoises yet. Anyways sense I bought him he hasnt eaten and I was wondering if this is normal for tortoises after being placed in a new habitat or if I should worry. Second of all I'm wondering what humidity his terrarium should be, because as of right now I have it at 40% and I am also wondering what substrate I should use.

I'm not too sure on Greek torts, but not eating is normal for when they first come home, it took me two weeks to get my girl to eat. Keep a dish of water available at all times for the tort, and my substrate is coco coir mixed with top soil. Though there are many alternatives available just no wood chips, sand or pellets. In that hot of an environment it wouldn't hurt to soak your tort after every outside play session and make sure he has plenty of shade! I'll include a picture of my two, and I hope to see your handsome man's face!

Yesterday I changed the bedding and made it deeper being that hes a russian and they love to dig and got the humidity higher. He seems to be alot happier now and is running around his terrarium more, I also was able to get him to eat a drink today so thx for the help everyone!

Russians sure do love to dig :) they have great characters too. Do you soak him at all? Most Russians aren't too keen on it (mine doesn't like it) but it's essential in keeping them healthy and well hydrated.

Welcome. Humidity does not need to be high at all. But too dry can cause dry rot, and respiratory issues. You won't really have to worry too much though about that. If your keeping it around 40% your good. Just make sure he's hydrated. Keeping him outside would be best actually, especially during summer. Do you have an area where you can build him an outdoor area?

I have been soaking him sense i got him and as far as humidity goes i have been keeping it around 45 to 50%. I have room for him outside but im worried about the heat outside being that its usually around 100-110 degrees in the summer.
