Yesterday after doing lots of reading and waiting (6 months) I got a Russian Torty for my birthday! It was love at first site, well it was for me. Here is Yuri! I named him that because it means earth mover and it's also the name of the first human in space. We live on the Space Coast of Florida. We will be building an indoor and outdoor place for him today!

Hi and welcome to and Yuri - he's lovely! You are very wise to have researched first and there's lots of good advice here such as not to trust pet store owners' advice and don't use coil bulbs etc.

I found the Beginners Mistakes thread very useful to help avoid problems, plus the caresheets and Enclosures section Is great for ideas too. So read search and ask someone is always around to point you in the right direction. Good luck in your new life with your tort and look forward to hearing how he's getting on.
