Was just browsing the web & found a general care sheet for non tropical tortoises. It states that you should scrub their shells once a month with hibiscrub. Is that right?

I dont do it, in fact I've never even heard of the stuff. In my opinion it just a waste of money
I have never done it!
The only time I would use Chlorhexidine is on a wound that I want to cleanse. I see no reason to use an antibacterial scrub on a healthy, normal tortoise. Just keep the poop off of its shell, and you can do that with plain water.

Ditto. No scrubbing for me either. I just use a little handheld sprayer after each soak to clean any detritus off of them.

I've never heard of Hibiscrub but I do keep a bottle of Hibiclens on hand for the occasional painted turtle that seems to be brought to me (I am a critter rescue magnet, I swear there must be a neon sign over my head that says "Bring me your ill critters"!) It works wonders on shell rot when used with dry docking.
