Holly berries

Can my red footed tortoise eat holly berries? He found one and tried to eat it, but before he could take a bite he stopped and walked away. Just wondering if they are safe for him.

Holly berries are toxic, however, birds eat them, so I would imagine tortoises can too. I think the fact that your tortoise looked at it then left it alone speaks for itself.
