Hops leaves?

We have had our 25 pound sulcata, Tortellini, for about 3 weeks now. He eats and poops well! I have been doing my research about diet, enclosures, etc, but have one question I have not come across the answer to. Can sulcatas eat hops leaves? You know, hops that you make beer out of? My husband has several varieties of hops plants growing in the backyard (not in the tortoise enclosure), and I am wondering if Tortellini can eat the leaves without harm. My husband claims to have read online that the actual HOPS are toxic to DOGS, so I would never risk feeding those to Tortellini. It is just the leaves I am wondering about.
