I am trying to design a new indoor home for my two horsfield tortoises, I wanted something that gives them the best and at the same time looks good since it is going in my living room, so I am open for suggestions. I know that they have to have the heat, uv and all that but I just want to see that other people have don to make there tortoise home a truly magnificent one.

We have pictures of some very pretty habitats on the forum. Some double decker, some a real show-piece. Just keep one thing in mind. Horsfield tortoises climb real good. Make the sides taller than one tortoise standing on the back of the other on two legs and reaching with is front legs.

Will keep that in mind, at the moment I have drawn up a double decker 2meters by a meter.
Was wondering if to but some sort of maze in it but not sure if there would be any point.
I have been told the a closed cage with a glass sliding front is not a good idea due to it trapping moisture, so is it better to have an open top.
The other thing I was told was not to have a see through front to a table top because it winds them up?

I have a glass front on my table and have had to cover it up as she kept walking up to it and banging it with shell, think she was frustrated by it!

Can't wait to see people tortoise houses😊

3/4" plywood can be used, made any size and shape you want, painted on the inside and stained or painted on the outside to match your living room. You can also get furniture grade oak, maple, cherry or birch plywood. Or go with an AC plywood and laminate the exterior with either wood or any other material or finish. It really depends upon how much you want to spend and how well you want it to match the room that it will be in.
