I found hostas on the list of edible plants. However, there are many in the catalogs I have. Are they all safe for my tortoises to eat?
Thanks
Patsy

All are safe Patsy, they may not be all tasty though :p Try to go for the older varieties and green ones are usually best. :D

My guys prefer the smaller leafed ones that are largely white and green. I also have the ones that are really large leave and mostly green and they will eat them but not with the vigor they do the others.

My RT's LOVE hosta's when they have young new leaves and periodically nibble on the larger leaves, but not as much as they like the new leaves or younger plants. Early in the season it's tough to get them to leave them alone long enough to grow any leaves, but if I get through that phase the older leaves don't get touched as often. It also seems that they like the solid green ones better than they green/white ones.
