The only way I can get my cage to a really high temp is by putting a blanket over it, but today I put one of those reflective emergency blankets over it hoping it can get it even higher and not be a fire risk.

How did that work out? Be cautious that it does not go into the cage....oooo, shiny...I would be worried that a bit may be chomped....? but that is likely my OCD out of control.... LOL:D

If you have the correct lighting it should get hot enough. Am I the only one who doesn't know about your set up? Post some pix would you? Can't you simply cover the top with aluminum foil?
Using a 100 watt basking light at one end and at the other end a black light bulb or a 100 watt CHE should keep the whole thing warm enough...

.it's a 4' long rabbit cage (with a plastic bottom and caged top), a UVB light, a basking lamp where the temp underneath is 90ish (both are in ceramic fixtures), a ramped pool of water, a flat bowl of the above mentioned food, and a substrate made up of a mixture of coconut husks and timothy hay. There is also a long half log my fiance made with a bunch if hay underneath for his to burrow under and some stacking rock mounds for him to climb over (they're not steep so he won't flip over). I do think he is adjusting nicely though.

I am reposting this enclosure description for those that are not familiar with your prior post :p:p:p:p:p

I put a heat blanket over my cage and it's finally up to 100 under his 150watt heat bulb. Ps-i posted pics now!

I don't know if you have a tractor supply co. Near you but, they sell 250w red lamps for $7. That's what I use for the basking area. It's 100-105 with the lamp about 18" up. They are used for Baby chicks so any similar store might carry them? That may help you get the temp up. I'm new here but red for night and normal for the day. I don't know if they have a 250w reg.

What is the room temp in there and what are you measuring your temps with?

I'm measuring temp with 2 sticker thermometers stuck on the hot and cooler sides, basking side 100 and cooler side 85. I now need to get a humidity meter. I mist, and with the heat tent, can feel the humidity in the air.
