I have a baby Sulcata tortoise that is about 1 year old and I have to house it outside. What are the requirements for this? I am housing it in the Southern California Area.I also have 2 Russian tortoises that are also about to live outside. about 7 months ago i lost one of the Russians but then found it outside last month. It was healthy. No heating things. Just the wild. So is it possible to house them outside with heating? This might be a lot to ask but I need some answers. Thank you. I am also new to this forum :)

The baby sulcata is a tropical tortoise and they need to be housed mostly indoors, with daily outdoor excursions in a safe enclosure, until they are 8-10". Check these out:

Adult russians can live outside just fine. Here is what I did:

All three of those tortoise need to be housed separately, by the way. Russians can live in groups some of the time, but not pairs. And the little sulcata can't live with the russians.

No, the Russians don't need heat other than the sun, but the baby sulcata does.

Generally, no. But read the linked threads. They explain everything.

One more question: Does a sulcata tortoise living on Kale and Hibiscus cause pyramiding?

No humidity will cause pyramiding. The diet for your sulcata needs to include much more variety then the two items you mentioned.

no pyramiding is caused by no or low humidity
