How much "give" is normal for shell?

I'm almost certain I saw this same question posed already, but I couldn't find the thread again. How much give should a healthy shell have? I've never noticed anything unusual about my Leo's shell but after reading that thread I was curious so I applied a tiny bit of pressure to her shell and it just feels slightly "boingy" I guess? It's almost completely unnoticeable, it's not straight up soft or structurally "unsound" in any way. She's a one year old Leo, am I correct to say that that is normal for juveniles to have a bit of give in their shells?

Although the Scutes form the familiar outer layer of the shell, it is the bony layer underneath which actually provides the shape, support and protective qualities of the your tortoise's shell.
The shell is composed of hard, bone plates covered by scutes. The scutes are made of keratin, the primary substance in hair, nails and hooves of other animals, which grow at different rates within maturity , sex and health of your tortoise. And like your finger nails there is "some give" to it. The underside or " plastron" is the one to watch for any unusual soft spots , which usually is a lack of vitamins and or too much dampness to help support new growth tissue as well as causing infection in older tissue. The pigment melanin, present in the scutes, may form intricate designs and brightly colored patterns in some species.

That makes sense, it's really only noticeable on two of her scutes on the sides of the carapace. Her plastron felt strong and had no softness. I give her calcium/D3 supplement once a week and she has a full spectrum UVB/A bulb in her table. Just making sure, as I am a first time tort mama :) She had some pyramiding when I got her and I fixed all my wrongdoings with humidity and temperature very quickly thanks to this forum :) Here's a good picture of Tippy ImageUploadedByTortForum1395330297.232662.jpgImageUploadedByTortForum1395330308.582830.jpg

Mind you, I didn't dive into anything rapidly, I slowly modified what I needed to so she could get acclimated properly. Just clarifying :)

Thanks! She's so full of herself, but easygoing at the same time. She gets extra helpings of love! I'm sure I annoy her sometimes with my "hovering giant" antics haha!
