Not sure I read it 2 months ago I'm a newbie. I'm not sure where I read it so I'd wait till someone with more Knowledge says yes. It was 2 months ago when I read it. But it does make his shell really pretty. I thought it was zamric but I'm not sure.please ask someone that knows more I'm just not sure where i read it at and I keep looking. ?

I have never used Olive Oil. But it was brought up as alternative to the more expencive Vita-Shell.

Vita-Shell directions call for a coat once a week. For my hatchlings I use it twice a week (Saturdays and Wednesdays) right after thier Soak... here you can see the results so far.

Gaia: Hatched July 5, '11.... recieved Feb 11, '12

Gaia was a little older when I got here from Rebecca. Rebecca also subscribes to a "Hot/Humid" Enclosure but only had her a couple of weeks before Rehoming her with me. I don't know about her 1st 5 months of life but you can tell that since she has had a Hot/Humid enviroment plus the Vita-Shell, her new growth is very smooth

I don't know about baby oil.... but I never liked using on babies so I would never concider it for Torts.

I was not a member when you did that, but I have run across it since. All I know about the stuff, I see on WalkingRock and knowing his back ground. I HOPE it has the same affect on my 2 little one....so far...so good!

I wanted to post this statment here since I am so Pro Vita-Shell It should be noted that Vita-Shell has been known to draw ants. I have never had this issue. But as a preventative measure, when I see ants ANYWHERE around my outdoor enclosure, I use Ant-Traps. I also make sure his has completely soaked it in before they go outside.

I think your tortoise, Rose, is a beautiful tortoise. I don't know why some threads get a lot of posts and others get none or just a few. I use to think it was lack of pictures but I don't think so anymore. I am sure that more people will comment on your beautiful Rose.
