Wow, Scarlet and Babette were little piggies today! I shot the most adorable videos. They have eaten everyday since I brought them home a week ago, but today they just couldn't seem to get their fill of Mazuri and greens mixed with a few carrot slices. They devoured food for 20 minutes. They ate both what was in their fish and what I lay inside their enclosure to find while grazing.

She is used to the paparazzi now and doesn't stop what she is doing when I snap away. ;)

Jkingler, me too, just hadn't experienced it yet. They were definitely hungry girls today. I think they are small for their age, so they are due for a growth spurt. I'm hoping the right diet and husbandry will help with the slight pyramiding they have now.

:D I saw the thread title, before I saw what species you had and my instant thought was you either have Russians or sulcata. :D

Jacqui, lol.

I don't want to feed them too much, or starve them either. How much food should two Sullies eat in a day? I was told Babette was 3 or 4 and Scarlet about 2 when I got them from their foster home. I am not sure that is correct, if it is they are undersized. They were housed in a big tort table, but there were also 2 Yfoots and 3 Rfoots in there too. They are now loving a nearly 4 foot in diameter baby pool sitting very unattractively in my pretty dining room. I don't care, they like it and I am not domestic enough to cook often anyway. It is a pretty room that never saw as much traffic in seven years as it has in the past 7 days since the girls move in!

I have heard that a rounded mound of leaves and grasses that is equal to their own size and volume (but not density! :p) is about perfect, but I could be off.

Honestly, I don't know where they put it, or even where those giant poops come from for that matter, don't they have organs in that shell or is it just a big food tank?

The girls were up and active before I was this morning. They both had their "feed me" look on again. I have seen so many changes in them the last couple days. They must be less stressed from their move now. Even stubborn Babette is more willing to tolerate photos now. She Loves, loves, loves to move her hide box around.

Off topic a bit but, what kind of tort did my mother-in-law happen across on her morning beach stroll? Pic take on Casperson Beach in Venice, FL

Feeding frenzy at lunch again today. Glad they are eating so well now, they came to me really undersized if the man who had them knew their correct age.

Good for you. I say feed them as much as they want. Sounds like you are doing a great job with them and they are happy torts.

The girls had pumpkin tonite as a treat mixed in with their Mazuri. They loved it! My daughter got some really cool pics.

Oops, last is of the puppies waiting for the Hubs to drop some of the nasty smelling Chinese food I made him for dinner. Didn't mean to upload that one.

Gotta love em! My favorite part is when their face gets all messy and you just know they are in heaven. Haha
