I had a rat problem, now have a shell problem

Well hello TFO, long time no talk. Hopefully you're collectively doing well. I'm back and needy as ever. As stated in the title, one problem dealt with, another remains. Here's the damage:

Sid (M.e.e) normally lives in a swamp, and I couldn't get a focused picture without drying it off. Hence the weirdly dry shell. Anyway, anybody have any ideas? I have photos on a currently out-of-commission hard drive so can't compare, but off hand I'd say the split is getting longer.

It's some sort of a scrape - either from a tooth, or maybe he was trying to go under something that scratched the shell???
