A CH 2008 and some CBH 2010 impressed At 2 1/2 years you can see the shell starts taking on the characteristics of the Impressed adults.

I have the Mep and the Mee, but no Impressas. But I think they're just beautiful!

OMG those little monkeys! I have a 2 or 3 (I'd have to pull my records to be sure) year old Mep and she has no inclination to climb. Do they fall off and land upside down?
Yes they are little monkeys and their atheistic abilities have astounded us. They are very agile and like to cram into nooks and crannies. The young are often found sleeping on their sides or straight up and down When given natural substrate and furniture they right themselves, I guess, since we have never found one upside down. As adults they are long legged and could beat the hare in a race.

Hello Steven, Glad that you are here, I know I can learn from you,I got my first impressa about 2 months ago, a DL 09 hatchling it is doing fine as far as I can tell. Len
The young shown are hatchings from a group of adults legally imported for us in March of 2008. Establishing wild caught of this species is not for the weak of stomach. Frankly we did not know what we were in for, learned a lot, but our group seems to have beat the odds for survival. We have high hopes for this spring/summer and hopefully will have more hatchlings
Great pics. Fascinating info. Please keep us updated on this. I love the other Manouria, but know almost nothing about these. I had no idea about the climbing ability or the long legs. More info please.

What has your hatch rate been? What temperature and humidity are you incubating at?
M. impressa have been for sale as CB hatchlings for at least the past 6 years. They do come up for sale every year and the price is coming down for hatchlings.

oh how pretty! i like the way their shells fan out, they remind me of the tips of a fall leaf dress. this is probably where the forest nymphs come from.

As you point out there are others who have more experience hatching this species. Very little info has been made available and we are still dialing in the parameters. We hope to match the hatch rate of the CH hatchlings we brought in 2 years ago. The Malaysian exporter bought eggs, was told to "incubate at room temp" and had nearly 100% hatch.
Our group of experts, 4 of us fearless fools, took eggs from, Big Mamma" who had arrived full of eggs, seemed in good health and ended up dying. Her necropsy showed she had zero fat cells in her entire body. She was a victim of long term starvation. But her genetics live on in 3 nice healthy young ones. The big one in the pool party is one of hers.
The smaller ones in the picture are from Lucy one of the adults we established and we think MR Butters. (see attached photo if over 18 years old). She laid 17 eggs and 10 hatched. We hope to improve on this ratio this year.
We are still trying to find out what gene pool exists in the USA and whether a stud book exists.

Awesome Steven and great work! It is refreshing to see people working with Impressa, and also doing a great job of keeping them alive and breeding them! Keep up the great work!
