Here's a couple ideas for light stands. The second picture has pipe screwed into a piece of plywood that goes under the enclosure.

Growing up with a family of electricians, I would go further to suggest you hang your lights with a mechanical connection OTHER than the electrical cord itself. You are relying on the connection within the light socket to support its own weight. Something like this:
