So I made the mistake of buying one of those tortoise boxes and I realized that’s obviously not going to work with a young sulcata so does anyone have any recommendations on affordable close chamber enclosures or how to get started on making your own?

The best bet is contacting @Markw84 for one of his "Smart Enclosures". Its cheaper than buying all the materials and building it yourself, and it is designed and built superbly.

Animal Plastics is a good way to go, but you will wait 8-12 months for your enclosure. I ordered 3 cages in March 2021 and still have not received them.

I raise all my baby tortoises in Markw84 cages and highly recommend them for about any small tortoise. They truly make it easy. There are ways to get it done cheeper to start with but I feel like you’ll end up spending a lot of time and money making sure everything is right.

Problem? I don't see any problem there. Maybe not enough enclosure space? That could be a problem...
