Hi. I have had a Greek tort for 4,5 year or so, and am planning to change his enclosure. I do realize that enclosures should be as big as possible, but what if:
1) one lives indoors: no possibility for an outdoor enclosure
2) one does not have enough space for such a big one.

At the same time I don't want Oli to feel that he is in a 'prison cell.'

I'd very much appreciate your advice here. Thank you.

What is the amount of space you think you could devote to the enclosure? People are going to answer with larger sizes than you want, so it'll probably just be easier to tell people how big the space is that you have to work with.

Bigger the better lol ;) I would do the best with what you have. When I didn't haveva lot of area inside I let my adult tort roam the house and he had a doggy door he went out to go into the yard.

I agree....do the best with what you have. That's what I did. My indoor enclosures might not be as large as some people would have but it is working. I have a redfoot tortoise with an SCL of 8.5 to 9 inches. His enclosure is 4.5 feet by 6 feet. I have two box turtles. One has a SCL of 6 inches and her enclosure is 2.5 feet by 3.5 feet. The other box turtle is just under 5.5 inches SCL and her enclosure is 2 feet by almost 4 feet. So my enclosures aren't as big as recommended I don't think but everyone is happy and healthy. Devote as much space as you can with the correct environment for the species.
