We just got Pepe on Wednesday. His family was moving from Florida to Colorado and wanted him to stay in a warmer climate. We were happy to add him to our two sulcata tortoise family. He is eight years old and ADORABLE! My nine year old daughter felt he needed a middle name. Pepe is a Brazilian name, so we googled Brazilian boy names. He is now Pepe Pablo. He is super active and explores all day. He uses all four hides throughout the day and today started eating more. I must admit, my house is a wreck because I’ve sat outside talking to him and watching him for three days. He makes me laugh. I think my husband hurt our other tortoises’ feelings when he said, “Why didn’t we start with the small ones?” We have a beak trim in our future and can’t wait for the broadleaf weeds to GROW. He has lots of shade herbs in his enclosure. He may trample them to death but right now they are giving him lots of things to climb over. Tortoises bring me joy, peace, and calm and we were blessed with yet another amazing creature.
Our 4x8 night box for our sulcatas is almost finished. We have enough materials left over for Pepe to have one. It was meant to be.
