Hi everyone, it has been FOREVER since I have posted but I am worried that my baby ate something he should not have. My husband let him wonder today and I caught him eating some leafs from my night blooming jasmine plant. It appears he got in about 5 to 6 bites, I googled it and I am getting conflicting information. Does anyone know if it is toxic for a leopard tort. or am I worried for no reason???? Im freaking out.
The night blooming jasmine is also called Cestrum nocturnum.

Check the 5 or so different ones on the tortoisetable.org.uk. A couple are feed in moderation, others do not feed. See if yours looks anything like the pics on the site. I could not find the exact one you mentioned by name. Good luck. Btw, I wouldn't worry too much. I would give a warm soak for about an 1/2 hour maybe he will pee or poop some any bad stuff out if there is any and then keep a close eye on him.

I don't believe there should be any issues with this plant and that small amount consumed. Even if toxic the level wouldn't be extreme. I looked it up on toxic plant list and came back with nothing. But this plant seems to be used in medicinal and consumption purposes in south east Asia. I'd not allow anymore consumption until further review of it is in order. But even highly toxic plants like poison sumac, hemlock etc.. I don't think would even kill a tortoise if consumed in small amounts as you witnessed.
