Is he ok?

I'm worried about my 1 year old hermann tortoise.

He's off his food today. Normally he's up as soon as the light goes on. Today it was nearly 1pm and he still wasn't up.

He isn't walking round at all and keeps extending his neck right out and opening his mouth. I've tried uploading a video but it won't load.

I've given him a warm bath incase it was constipation but hasn't worked.

I gave him a small price of banana yesterday which he ate straight away. I gave some to his sister and she's fine.

Please help. I'm worried.

There's a couple things the symptoms might be telling you - something stuck in his throat or nose, or gasping to breathe (Respiratory infection)

I really don't thing we'll have any words of wisdom for you except to tell you to see the vet.

Tell us your four temps: Warm side, cool side, basking area and over night low.

Also, what are you using for heating and lighting?

Last, are they being housed as a pair, together?

They're now being housed separately. It's 35°c in the hot end and 25°c in the cool end. At night the room doesn't fall below 20°c.

I tried to look in his mouth but couldn't see anything obvious.

The problem is the vet is now closed for a couple of days so I can't see a vet until then.

How long were they together and how long have they ben separated?

Is the one that got moved the one that is gaping?

I'm using a mercury vapour bulb for heating and light.

We separated them about a month ago but because he was the more timid of the two, we kept him in the regular enclosure and moved his sister into the larger one. They had been living together for about 4 months.

I can't see any discharge from his nose or mouth which would point to a respiratory problem.

He did have some phagm moss in his hides which he might have eaten.
