What the heck else does he do? Chase his tail? Pick his beak and eat it?

As long as he doesn't start asking "Have you seen my weiner?" (Something About Mary) than I think he'll be okay! :D:D

:) haha. My female Russian Natasha does the same thing. Or if it take her to a new place or add something new to her terrarium she will stand and stare at the new offensive thing for hours before she forgets about it.

Hey Chase,

No, it's not just you. My male Russian tortoise does it, too. The female rarely, but the male quite often (during the active season; they're both brumating now). Sometimes he does it when he sees me; he runs over to my side and looks up at me. Sometimes he does it when he's stomping around the pen. I think in both cases, he does it because he wants out: either me to lift him out, or else to try and climb out himself. Sometimes he will stand on his hind legs, lean up against the wall, and just scratch at the wall - for hours, if I let him - trying to get out. Sometimes, this seems to be simply because he's hungry, so if I give him some food, he will just eat and then be content. At other times, though, even if I put food in, he still wants out. I usually let him out in that case, but it's not always a good time, so sometimes he just has to stay in there. Again, the female sometimes tries to escape, too, but it's the male who really has wanderlust (typical for tortoises, actually).

Terry, love that shot of your boxie doing it, too. :)
