I measured my tort today he is 5 inches long only his shell by 5 inches across only his shell. i used a piece of string so its more accurate. is he fat?

Sounds like a good weight to me. Ophelia is about 61/2 inches, 945 grams, 7 years old.

Make sure you are measure from tip to tip in a straight line. Don't use the string and form it to the shell that will add extra lengt.
