Is this normal growth?

I was soaking my russian tortoise today, and I noticed a of growth lines! I'm excited to see that she is growing but not sure if this is how it should look.






It seems that the shell is only growing in certain spots... Is this typical?

You will see new growth at the edges of the scutes. Think of the middle of the scute as the starting point. All new growth occurs outside that. Any new growth happens at the "seam" of where each scute meets, aka, the edge. I hope I explained that the way I meant to.
