I'm not sure if this is normal on not but then every morning my redfoot is always up and running because she knows its time to bathe and eat but then after a couple of minutes she just stays inside her log and sleep the rest of the day. Does it have something to do with the humidity or the temperature?

That's right, does it? How do you keep her? Can you post pictures of her enclosure with her inside? What are the temperatures inside. What do you feed her? Does she have access to water? Do you soak her? How is her appetite? What do her poops look like? The more detail you give about what I have just asked the better we'll be able to sort things out

Thanks for those questions Pearly. I pictured my enclosure but i didnt picture Donatella because she was already sleeping. I'll post a pic of her tomorrow morning. Alright i know the enclosures a little small and im still looking for another one or hopefully make one when i can :( I used a tripod to hold the dome since i wasnt able to find a proper stand yet. The light i use is the Sun Glo Exo Terra and it makes the temp around 35C but the side of the enclosure with the log is at around 29-31 with the humidity at 69-75. I usually feed her mixed greens with hibiscus flowers but sometimes i add in mangoes, bananas and apples. I also sometimes sprinkle the food with Sera Flowers and Loops. She has access to water at all times and i clean it every day. I soak her outside every morning for 20 mins. She has a good appetite as she always finishes the flowers and most of the leaves but i tend to give her big servings. Her poop is dark green and she poops every morning while she is soaking.

Hello SidGo. You are correct, the enclosure is too small. I would make some changes.

Sink the water dish into the grown so she doesn't have to climb to get into it. She might not feel safe in enclosure you need plants for hiding and line of sight blockers. Your tort might not be active because the enclosure is so bare.

I have a hard time believing the humidity is 65+ with that type of open top enclosure and substrate consistency (it looks quite dry to me). You could review some habitats under the redfoots section. There are a few using raised garden beds and covers which are quite good at holding humidity.

Use this as a light stand. It's much safer than your tripod. Bulbs get very hot you don't want to risk it.

Try these things but aside from making the bare minimum changes, not sure how to advise you otherwise. Good luck!

Hi there, it's too small but I know you said your working on that.
Your main issue at the moment is it's too hot. That's why he's hiding. Aim for 26 to 30°c throughout the enclosure 27 to 29°c is better. I can't tell if you have a lid on or not, if you do the UVB light isn't doing anything and the 35°c is way too hot for this species.

Hi there! I love it when people asking questions are actually willing to listen and take suggestions. That tells me you are a good tortoise parent. I am glad to know you are working on upgrading your tort's housing. Another question I have is this: how do you measure your temps/humidity? Can we see pictures of devices you use? If you use digital meters with probes where in the enclosure are the probes? Let me tell you something, that temp/humidity thing is probably single hardest thing to sort out in keeping any reptile. Once you get that under control, consider yourself on home run, bcs the rest of the work is just fun, free of any stress

Thanks for all your suggestions guys. I'll try looking for a bigger storage box i can use for an enclosure for now so i can add some plants as well as put a lot more substrate to better hold the humidity. I am also confuse about the temp since the regular temp here in the philippines is already at 31C so should i just get a UVB bulb and forget about the heat? I am also looking for a better stand but the petshops here have limited supplies on some reptile products. I will also try opening the lid when i use the Sun Glo bulb. Misconception on my part thinking the UVB could go through :( For the humidity i have to constantly spray the enclosure to keep it humid but i try not to spray too much as to not make the soil very soggy
i use a digital meter which i found in the house. There is like a main device and a wireless sensor which sense feedback to the main device. I'll post pictures in a moment

Heres the picture of the device i use for checking the temp and humidity. The first reading in the main console is the temp and humidity inside the enclosure while the 2nd reading is the temp and humidity inside the house. I have read that analog readers arent that accurate so i decided not to get them. I have also tried opening the lid now for the UVB to get in :)
