I noticed what looks like fat at his back legs when I went to soak him today. He gets soaked, grasses with some romaine, calcium, access to water. UVB during the day, ceramic heat emitter at night. His enclosure is kept humid and warm.

He was born in August.

I've not seen that before so I'm sorry I can't help, but it sounds as if he could do with a more varied diet.
Is he a sulcata?
If so have you seen the sullie caresheet yet? That will tell you all about diet temps humidity and substrate etc
www.thetortoisetable.org.uk is also a good guide to tort safe food.

Yes he’s a sulcata. I make sure he gets mostly grasses, with some weeds. He’s picky, when I got him all he was fed was romaine.

That's normal. Especially when you hold them head up like that.

Thank you. He is acting normal, great appetite and active. I just wanted to be sure - I had never noticed it before. I’m a bit of a worrier. :)
