For the last 2 days it has finally warmed up here in CNY. Not hot but warm and sunny. I have had Petrie out in his temporary enclosure from about 3 to 7. Yesterday he explored for about an hour the burrowed under the mulch. Today he only walked around for about 30 mins the burrowed in again.

After I bring him in I do a soak for about 20 minute and put him in his inside how where he promptly goes to sleep.

Is it normal for him to sleep that much? He is 6 months old now and seems to be doing well other then having sleep patterns like my teenager.

Any advice would be great.

Yup...normal for a baby.....just assure you have all enclosure set up checklist good...if you are all good....then this behavior safely indicates the behavior of a baby tort...:D

Babies will sleep a lot. They all have different personalities though. Some walk around and eat constantly, others sleep all week and come out once to eat. Perfectly normal!

Definitely normal .I've actually made the comment that he sleeps as much as my teenage son as well. He's active when He's out but down for the count when He's in. Lol

Show us a pic of his outdoor enclosure. If there is not enough shade and cover, they will usually just go straight to hiding. Even on a 65 degree day they can get pretty hot in direct sun. In the wild everything eats them when they are babies, so they do tend to hide a lot more when they are small.

Here is a picture. This is my temporary solution for outside time. His full size enclosure is being build as we speak. It will be 4x8 for now and easily added on to. Thank goodness for my Mom the designer.

In this picture the towel isn't on top but usually there is a towel that I cover part of it with so there is shade and sun.
