It's amazing how his little tummy flattened out so quickly. OK, I know that's not the technical term but it fits for such a cute little baby.
I would offer food seeing there was no yolk sac left. I know Tom offers food if I'm not mistaken even when there is a yolk sac left. @Tom please confirm
I have been putting food in the small broader container and keeping the temp 85 - 90 and the humidity around 90%. I have soaked him morning and afternoon each day. His scar appears to be healed. He did not have a yolk sack when he hatched. I haven't seen him eat or drink yet. His eyes are open and bright. When do I put him in his enclosure? Any special instructions I am missing?I offer food as soon as they hatch. I like them to have something different every day even while in the brooder box while waiting for them to absorb their yolk sac and close up their umbilical scar.

Thank you. His enclosurel drops to upper 70's at night, but the container he is in until then is on a shelf in my yeatling leopards enclosure.I usually wait a few days after the umbilical scar closes up and they are eating. I don't keep Testudo species that warm 24/7. I let them cool a bit at night.
Good luck! For whatever reason I only got one fertile egg. Had 3 other Russian and have 16 Leopards. More on the way though. She was digging last night.Hello
The tortoise is tiny. Can't wait until my first egg hatches. My last 3 were not fertile I am keeping my fingers crossed my one egg is due to hatch in the first week in November
Your leopard or your Russian was digging?Good luck! For whatever reason I only got one fertile egg. Had 3 other Russian and have 16 Leopards. More on the way though. She was digging last night.
Thanks. I am pretty impressed with the process as well. Overnight his plastron flattened. I didn't think it would be so quick.Thank you for posting the picture of his umbilical healing, that's amazing!! I've never seen a new baby like that before, it's so cool how fast that happened.
So so so cute, just love it!!
Scarlett my leopard. She tried to dig in her night hide last night. I keep putting her in her nesting area. She apparently is not happy with it. Hoping she gets over it and we don't have egg problems again this year. Outside is not an option.Your leopard or your Russian was digging?
Why are you afraid you're going to lose him? Looks like he's doing pretty good. It's probably very nerve-racking, I would be a nervous wreck. I would probably check on him about 300 times a day.Eating and in his new enclosure. Really afraid I am going to lose him.View attachment 152961
