You have to keep it clean and you need to support it NOW. I am not sure how to show you a thread in this text here, not that tech savy yet. I have had to do similar thing to a tort though on the bottom. The thread is "White Flesh" in the north american sub group. Nail acrylic and aluminum supports is what I had to use. It works well, no movement at all

With the right help you may be able to save this poor tort, It depends on any internal injuries.

Very gently push the shell back into place and wrap duct tape around the body to hold it in place. Leave the tape in place. Don't take it off to check. Just let it eventually come off on its own. It takes a very long time for new shell growth.

Everyone, please bear in mind, I've given this direction because the original poster says there is no vet in their area. Naturally, the best thing to do is to take the tortoise to the vet and after they put the shell back in order, dose the tortoise with a regimen of antibiotics.

The injury probably won't kill the tortoise, but infection certainly will.

These people can not be to clean, when dealing with this wound. They will need to sterilize their hands very well. I completely agree with @Yvonne G on the Tape, this will limit the ability for it to move. If you can please keep us posted.

He made an operation for my tortoise. She made full recovery.

Vet Cave Pet Health Center, Amman, Always open, 07 7188 6886. They might be able to help.

There is a veterinary clinic close to the main office of Orange. I vaguely remember that they took care of a tortoise. Picture was on their page on Facebook. Sorry I can't remember the name.

Recovery of your tortoise will take a long time but with good care she can recover. My first tortoise was in very bad shape when she was found. 26 years ago there was only 1 veterinarian in my area(for horses, cows and chickens) but he did an outstanding job with her. She made a good recovery.
