He might get too hot out there in the sun. You would be surprised how hot it can get in the box. Do you have a temperature gun yet? I think I would definitely try to soak him when you get him. Then find a nice quiet place for him to be until you can go home.
So, my tortoise is coming tomorrow. He's being shipped to my office, and might have to spend a few hours there before I'm able to bring him home. I have access to an outdoor deck (and expect the temps to be mid to high 80's Fahrenheit) or an air conditioned office. My plan was to soak him immediately, then move him to the deck in a large cardboard box until I'm able to leave. Does that seem ok? Should I feed him, or wait until I get him home?
