Today has turned out to be an awesome day! Two amazing things happened this morning while Gator and I were soaking up the sun!!!
First thing is he started grazing! He ate the grass!!! ( For everyone that has been reading my post, this is a big deal!!!!)
Second thing is he made contact with me for the first time!!! Most of the time he hides in his shell when he sees me!!!
My husband and I are in the process of building his outdoor enclosure 8x8 for now! I put him in it to see how he would react! He looked around and started walk/run and investigated every inch of it! I sat in with him and he slowly made his way to me and tried to climb on my foot. When i picked him up to bring him into the house, he climbed up to my face and rubbed his head against my cheek!:<3::<3: :tort::<3::<3:

Here are some pics! Beginning stages! I currently have him in a 40 gallon tank and I know it is way to small! That will be rectified as soon as possible!

Sunlight is the best medicine.
Also, tortoises will eventually figure out that you mean good things...Like food. You're not going to hurt him.
Congratulations.

Cute little guy, glad to hear he's "coming out of his shell" literally and figuratively.

There is usually a big change in their boldness level at around three years old. If this little bit made you happy, you will really be thrilled when he gets a little older.

Congrats. I know the feeling you get when they finally start feeling more like a pet that likes you rather then a "wild" animal that would rather see you gone. Enjoy
