So my Russian Franklin has a sort on indent toward the back of his shell, it was there when I got him and it's not soft but I wanted to know if I should worry

A picture would help but I would think if its hard just like the rest of his shell then its probably just the way he grew. It could of been that whoever had him as a hatchling through the time that you got him, didn't raise him properly (either proper humidity, lighting, food etc.) resulting in abnormal shell growth. As long as he's doing fine, I wouldn't worry
Sorry I meant to post the picture but I was playing with Franklin and he pooped while crawling up my leg haha I'll go get one now

My rescued 9(ish) yearold Russian Ophelia, has a "dent" in her shell also, on the back by her tail. But she is just fine. She wasn't taken care of correctly her 1st 8 years, but all is well with her now. As long as its not soft I wouldn't be worried. Hope all is well!
I don't know if these really do it justice but it's back and center. And I wouldn't doubt if he was just in bad conditions before considering I bought him from petco. (does anyone know if that means he's CB or WC? No one could tell me...) and his shell colorations good right? I've seen many Russians much darker
