ooh hermit crabs...my sisters and I had countless hermit crabs as young kids from Ocean City, MD every summer. One took a chunk out of my sister's finger once lol. Not gonna lie, they gross me out, especially when they're out of the shell.
Do they keep the enclosure cleaner, like a big difference? and do they interact with the torts?

Eh, at first I thought they all died. I had 3 in each one and there was no activity for like two weeks. Now they come out at night and eat and or just come out when they see the tortoise eat. They dig and hide so I can never find them. In terms of keeping it cleaner... not sure it's hard to say. With the new food dish I have, it's been pretty neat and tidy compared to before. (Had a tile) But I think they are funny in their own way. They don't really bother the tortoise, they just do their own thing and so do the torts. Although they do like to climb on each other sometimes, I wish I took that picture of the hermit on top of the big leopard going for a ride. Also yes, they do gross me out, I had some when I was younger and they died and that is the worse. They kinda just fall apart and into pieces which is really gross. These are the land based ones so yeah.

Yeah, I didn't want to be the one to say it, my parents and sisters always made me clean out the dead ones. ughhh i'm crawling in my skin just a little thinking about it and it's been years since I've had one...
Yeah... last time I had one was like 8 + years ago. I got it as a present and well... being young, poor and not knowing about hermit crabs lead to bad things! But that was long ago.
