hi I'm getting a Hermann tortoise very soon and I was wondering what lighting and heating to use.I've got a open top like plastic container it's very big and has a ramp so it's like two floors (if you search Meg strait tortoise enclosure I'm having my enclosure look like hers)

Thanks

There are people here with decades more experience than I have (hopefully they will chime in), but the advice I got on this forum a few weeks ago when I was setting up my first winter indoor enclosure was to spend the money and go 100W M(ercury)V(apor)B(ulb) for daytime heating/UV needs and C(eramic)H(eating)E(lement) for nighttime temperature regulation with a multiple thermometer/humidity gauges placed throughout the enclosure for accurate monitoring. They should all be available at your local pet store or online and come with directions to set up. I'll leave the brand recommendations and other specifics to the experts. A quick read through some of the enclosure threads or just search within the forum for lighting/heating should get you much more detailed advice than I can give (I advise you read as many as possible to get as much info as you can. I am a newbie and you should DEFINITELY double check anything I say with the more experienced members). Good luck to you and your Tort!!
