Lighting and screen

I have a dual lighting system that sits on top of my tortoises habitat on a screen. Unfortunately, every time I need to move something out of the habitat, I have to take off the bulb and turn it off so it doesn't burn a hole through my carpet (it's happened before). Is there any way I can attach the dual bulb to the screen without getting a lighting strip? I don't have the money for one currently, being a minor with no job haha.

It shouldn't sit on top of the screen. The screen blocks a good portion of the UVB. Remove the screen, make a top that allows you to hang the lights under the top. You could also cut holes in the screen just smaller then the bulb fixture. This will fix the blocking of the UVB. To solve your other problem, put a hook that you can hang it on while you are doing things inside.
