Hi! I was wondering if you guys had any good live plant ideas for a Russian tortoise- nothing to big please. Also, are live plants okay for a Russian tortoise cage? Or is there a chance that they may over eat. Thank you!

Pansies, aloe vera, bromeliads, and cat grass are the ones I've tried and had good luck with. Other good ones would be dandelion or clover. You could also try purchasing testudo or broadleafed weed seed mixes from various tortoise sites.

Thank you! That was a lot of help. I will try these with my tortoise.

Some types dracaena work well too. My Russian tortoise only takes nibbles every once in a while. But some can get pretty big. Ponytail palm too. My Russian loves hiding under it. It can get big if you let it. Leave it in a small pot and it will stay that size.

I have a Spider Plant and a couple African Violets in my tortoise enclosure.
