So, I didn't find this forum until I had been led down a wrong path by someone. I have two 5 month Sulcatas. I got a 40 gallon open top tank and had rabbit pellets in the bottom. I switched those out tonight for coconut fiber. Now, I'm trying to get more heat and humidity to them. I've read and reread the posts on getting started. Thanks for those! What can I do to make this situation better?

Hello and welcome.

Here is all the info in one place for you:

I wouldn't use coir. Its too messy. Fine grade orchid bark works best.

They need to be separated ASAP.

A 40 gallon is only good for a tiny hatchling for a couple of months. They each need something bigger ASAP.

All the info for how to set them up is in those threads.

I agree, they need to be separated. The coconut coir is fine to use, although it is messy, it does hold humidity well and won't cause impaction. When you wet it pack it down tight and it will be less messy. When you can, you could always add the orchid bark on top of the coir if you find that it's too messy for you. It's my favorite, I don't have a problem with it.
