Male Russian Tortoise has odd/maybe injured tail

Hello, everyone! My ~7yo male Russian tortoise’s tail seemed to change lately, and I’m not sure if it’s a reason for concern or just a consequence of his reaching sexual maturity. I noticed today that the end of his tail, which normally had a little hook, has become more rounded. He doesn’t seem to be affected in any other way.

Looks like he got it caught in something and scraped away some of the scales. Not to worry. It's ok.

Oh, thanks! Maybe the hook was just a bunch of those scales that got taken off with it. Glad to know my tort is alright!
