I know you can't take them from the wild due to conservation efforts. Not sure if it's captive or not, but a lot of people take them from the wild and "rescue" them when they're crossing the roads.

They are IMHO the most beautiful of all turtles. I had one for almost 15 yrs as my kids grew up. He was very cool!
