Hurricane Matthew update...for south Florida not a big deal. For native south Floridians it was nothing--except good surfing weather.
This photo was taken early this morning. It's my California group of cherry-heads slumbering away. Every one else was likewise dozing except for one of my females named Marty who was clearly alert even though it was dark out.
This is Marty.
Hours later in the back...the tortoises are doing their usual thing.
It was still very wet and humid with some occasional rains so the tortoises loved it.
Here Dude is following Betty as she samples some broken Ficus petiolaris stems and leaves. There are also floss silk flowers all over the yard and the tortoises like them too.
Camera is fogged from the humidity.
Here Dale and Ruby are out inspecting their pen after the storm.
Dale seems to be saying, 'get lost, you perv!'
Some of the bonsai back where they belong
Darth Maul and Marty were out and they seemed to be smelling everything.
From left to right, Darth, Marty and Moe. Moe is the mayor of my yard. Despite his size, he's a toughy.
For size reference Darth is 14.5 inches straight line carapace length and weighs between 21 and 23 pounds. Marty is 12.5 inches and weighs around 12 pounds.
Moe weighs 5 pounds.
Last shot, Little Eddie relaxing after eating a bunch of storm shredded hibiscus leaves.
None of my nine adults seemed to have been the slightest bit stressed from their night inside containers in the closed in back porch.
