You have awesome pics! I know this is off topic but have you ever sat on one? LOL Just wondering how much weight they can carry, since they carry so much (it looks) already. I've seen pics of children riding these and they aren't as big as the ones you have.

:tort: The males can haul any adult, we just choose not to ride them. Never on any females. The males are incredibly strong.

They always look so smooth, how do they not have more prominent growth lines? Surely they can't rub them all off so uniformly. Are they very old?

Regardless, they are beautiful animals. I'd love one but I'm afraid I'd be dead before it reached adulthood.

:tort: They are all very mature, we think all are at least 100 years old. We see new growth lines, they just seem to blend in very well and smooth. Mating does wear the female shells down some.

Wow... Just. Wow. I'm mean and hateful, I don't like the thought of someone else having my beloved tortoise after I'm dead. I just don't think anyone could care for him like I do. I only hope. And I don't plan on having any kids either so I don't know where he would go...

:tort: I remember reading years ago that an aldabra was documented to being 255 years old. Imagine that!

My Ghost would be haunting every owner following me lol I'd tell them they better be giving it the best love and care humanly possible. I hate to be a downer, but do have plans for yours later on? That must be such a hard decision, maybe you're lucky, maybe you have a good hardworking family that will love and care for them the way you have.
