That is one of the coolest vids I have seen yet. How long did she dig? Did she lay yet and how many or are you leaving them in the hole? Thanks for sharing, way too cool.

How long she had been nesting I'm not real sure.. probly only an hour from when she started until she was finished and was covering/camoflaging the nest [ I wouldn't have been able to tell where she laid had I not known ].. which they are masters at hiding the location!

She was finishing covering, etc. when she saw me and jumped back into the water. So it was my turn at digging in the nest. The eggs were deep [ 2+ inches below surface ].. compared to redfoot tortoises and spotted turtles that I've bred.



There were only 6 eggs in the nest - reliable source says there could easily be another 3 - 5 eggs that could be laid very soon [ next week or so ].

I'll get egg sizes ASAP...

Thanks. Watched a few of them. So amazing how they can't see a thing they are doing, but they do it so well.
