what is a good substrate to use to prevent mold from forming? this morning, i went to check on my sulcata tortoises water dish level and went to refill it. as i was doing that, i saw some white fuzzy mold underneath the water dish. i made sure to clean that out.

Pretty normal really. I use cypress mulch exclusively now, and that doesn't happen. Pick up your water dish, clean it well. Scoop some of that mildewy substrate out & toss away. You could also place a larger piece of tile or slate under the water dish.

Possibly relocate your water dish to a warmer part of the enclosure.
