This is my franklin, I'm going on a trip soon and got really upset tonight because I will be away from my girlfriend, it'll only be 3 days but I have this huge line of anxiety disorders and stuff. So after I said bye to her I went and took out Franklin, he imeadiately climbed there and just lay there for a long while, my original purpose to get him was to have a lifelong pet to be with me, and about a week later decided I wanted to consider him my 'therapy animal' didn't find out until today that he's actually really good at it :) he didn't really like me hugging him but he did let me without his normal squirming. I just had to share this lovely story!

Pets are fantastic for emotional support. :D

Plus, they listen way better than humans...

Wow, you should feel lucky...not only do you have a great tortoise...but he is crafty as well, look at how he has captured not one, but two of the elusive five toe species that generally show up only during the warmer months....very special indeed... ;)

My kitty was rather jealous though lol. He smelled Franklin huffed then went back to his bed, but the cats my families cat, Franklin is my first real pet (not to say fish aren't real but you can't hold a fish when your down)

This does make me wish he was getting bigger though. But I know I'd never be able to maintain a good life for anyone bigger since me and Franklin struggle to find time (and money sometimes). I loved the bonding moment here though, he's only been my little guy for a month and about a half (June 25) he's come a ways from his petco days.

Aww, I'm sure, especially with how loving yours seem in the pictures you post! I wish Echo was 1) larger enough to interact with that way 2) not horribly shy still!
She's still an amazing therapy. I didn't know just how amazing their energy was until having her in our lives.

Well at least fellow tortoise members agree they're great therapy animals everyone but my best friend thinks im crazy for it. It sounds weird but it's like he's a little fluffy snuggly guy when I need him, does anyone know that feeling?

I don't snuggle with mine like you, but when I am having a crazy day at school or home I can go and spend an hour or so taking care of the gang and come back feeling more relaxed and calm. Definitely great therapy animals

I'm the same :) my Harley loves a snuggle and is always falling asleep lying on my chest, don't know if it's the feeling of my heartbeat or breath but she loves it and is always nuzzling into me <3
Know what u mean about the therapy thing! My babies have got me through some pretty rough spells

Very nice story …..and yes torts and any animal that bonds with humans is very therapeutic ….just ask my shrink. :p They may also provide “willingness” to push on with life…. the stubborn and resilient creatures they are. Mine are definitely part of my life….I was diagnosed with Adult Epilepsy last year … Not fun! ( It Changed my life forever) The seizures’ , the panic and anxiety attacks, and the meds have horrible side effects. To say the least , what keeps me at peace are my torts , the yard and of course this forum …..
I thank you all for that ~
