A friend gave him to me over a year ago, and he lives in this 8X8 fenced in pen we had orginally made for my rabbit, just this summer hes digging! hes digging under the wood, and i look around this forum and you guys think its cute, but im worried, should I be doing something to help him? I believe ive seen somewhere they put PVC pipes in their holes? or is he just having fun and if i fill this one up hell do it again somewhere else?

In the real world, if a tortoise doesn't have a burrow to hibernate in, he has to start building one before the cold weather sets in. Our days are getting shorter and the nights cooler. He's just trying to prepare for winter. What kind of shelter have you provided in his enclosure?

He has several, a dog house, a stick made hut (originally for the bunny, and this Is the item he's digging under). The whole enclosure is under a tree so it's not as hot where he is. I don't want him to dig out, dig too far, have the dirt cave in...
