So I've stepped up his enclosure a little... I've added orchid bark as the base which sits on his old composite mix...

added carex & sempervivem real plants embedded into the mix

And put him a piece of slate in to feed from

I've kept his old water bowl as I don't know what else to use as a replacement.

Any comments welcome. Regards

Looks really nice!
My tortoise destroyed my carex glass ;) but has left the yucca alone for now, sempervivems are a good idea i will have to try that in my enclosure.

Everyone always recommends to use a terracotta saucer with some pebbles in the bottom so it's not to deep.

My tortoise loves to climb and sometimes jump (slide) off things so be careful with the roof :)

it looks very pretty.

Replace the water bowl with a terracotta plant saucer and push it down into the substrate so that it is easy for your tort to climb in and out.

The substrate looks very dry. A more earthy substrate like coco coir or fine grade orchid bark is easier to keep damp.

To get the substrate properly damp, take the decor out and then tip some water in from a jug. Mix it in thoroughly with your hands. Repeat until all the substrate is evenly damp right into the corners and right down to the bottom. Slow the rate of drying by misting a couple of times a day with water from a plant spray bottle. I don't know if this will work with your substrate - the water may puddle on the bottom of the tank as the pieces are so large.

I am also concerned that your tort may start trying suicide leaps as it climbs to the roof of the hide. If he keeps tipping, you will need to bank substrate up round it so you have gentle sloping hill instead.

Plants grow best when left in their pots and the pot is sunk into the substrate. They're easier to swap out when they're eaten or trampled too.

Yep he's already started trying to suicide leap. Luckily the times he's tried I've been there . And put him down on the ground.

The coco coir stuff I don't know we're to get it from I have been told about this stuff

.....and I'd suggest putting some mulch inside his house..vice the log base. Those logs on the floor don't look to snuggly for a young tort!

I think of humid hides as being/providing nice dark, humid suggly areas....where your tort looks to hide away.

The house is more just some were to go I've since put readi grass under his bridge and he likes it there or next to his head mat with his plants doesn't really sleep in the house even though we assume that would be the idea haha

Tortoises like to dig down into the substrate when snoozing. With bare substrate under the house, I think you will find it is used more.
